Moddle is a Virtual Learning Environment. its a tool for creating online dynamic web sites for students.  Many schools use it as their platform to conduct fully online courses, while some use it simply to boost face-to-face courses. Many of our users love to use the activity modules such as databases and wikis to build richly collaborative communities of learning around their subject matter, while others prefer to use Moodle as a way to deliver content to students and assess learning using assignments or quizzes. Students can use the software to look at PowerPoint presentations, hand in papers, participate in online discussions and receive feedback from the teacher. This is a good source of technology for high school age kids because it prepares them for college where you do a lot of online work. It also emphasizes student based learning where they can participate in online discussions and get more engaged with their assignments. It is also very nice for the teachers. They don’t have to take home a bunch of papers to grade anymore. Its all on the computer. Here is a helpful Moodle video!

MimioTeach Interactive Whiteboard

MimioTeach is a new inventive way to get the interactive whiteboard in the classroom without having to purchase a "smartboard". It's a new design from mimio XI, it's more responsive and has a new sleek design. The technology is on the whiteboard not in it, so you can transfer the MimioTeach to any whiteboard you want its also wireless and easy to transport. Its also easy to use. All you have to do is connect the MimioTeach bar magnetically to the whiteboard, plug the hub receiver into your computers USB port, connect the computer to a standard projector, calibrate, and get started! This is great for the students to get use to the new smartboard technology and the school doesn't have to spend massive amounts of money on multiple smartboards. MimioTeach also allows the students to be interactive with the lessons so they are getting the full potential to learn. I have a explanatory video here for you to watch and be amazed!

Prezi Presentation

Prezi was created simply because since slides and slide shows there hadn’t been a creative way to make a presentation. Prezi is made to inspire creative thinking, discussions, and deliver ideas from the moment of writting down random thoughts to illustrating the of the story. Prezi is a sort of mapped out presentation window that allows you to zoom in so you can focus on the finer points, or zoom out so you can focus on the larger picture. Prezi likes to keep it simple and easy so you don’t get distracted or diverted from your path. Prezi is also great for stirring up curiosity between people and connecting their ideas using a shared surface or path. The picture is an example of a prezi path! This would be great in the classroom because students could use this with a fellow student on a pro's and con's project and actually see how both of their points could come together on a path and be connected! It also strays from the sometimes boring power point presentations.

iPad in the Classroom

The iPad and iPad2 are great new multi-touch devices that would be great for the classroom. They are thin and lightweight unlike a thick sometimes heavy laptop and PC. The iPad is WiFi capable, and contains many app options that you could work into your classroom. Students can track their assignments, take notes, study, and use dragon dictation. With dragon dictation students can talk to the iPad and the iPad types for them. This can easily cut down assignment duration. Teachers can also give lessons, monitor progress, and stay organized with their iPad and also use dragon to type up lesson plans! The iPad also has iMovie capability so you can record and edit movies straight on the iPad!
